閉眼關(guān)公雕塑的來歷

民間有這樣一句話，“觀音閉眼不救世，關(guān)羽睜眼必殺人”。按照民間的傳統(tǒng)說法，主要是因為關(guān)公睜眼必見血，是為不吉。故而，無論是修鑄關(guān)公銅像，還是紋身都不能關(guān)公都不能開眼。這又是什么原因呢？

古時候人們是非常迷信的，關(guān)羽征戰(zhàn)沙場，雙手染滿鮮血，殺氣沖天。而古人認(rèn)為殺氣主要是通過眼睛來傳遞，所以古人認(rèn)為關(guān)羽眼睛里的殺氣太重，故而在雕刻的時候讓關(guān)羽眼睛保持八分閉，二分睜。

還有一種關(guān)羽雕塑閉眼的說法則和他的學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣有關(guān)。關(guān)羽本人十分好學(xué)，可是當(dāng)時正值亂世，白天哪有完整的時間讓他好好學(xué)習(xí)?于是他只能等晚上夜深人靜了再去研讀。當(dāng)時又不像現(xiàn)在有電燈，只能靠煤油燈來照明。關(guān)羽天天晚上瞅竹簡上的字，時間長了就成了近視眼。只有瞇著眼才能看清書上寫了什么內(nèi)容。所以他在平時就有瞇眼的習(xí)慣，后人就是根據(jù)他生活中的形象來給他塑造的雕像。

還有一種說法似乎更靠譜一些，來源于《夢華瑣簿》中所述：清代徽調(diào)演員米喜子在演《戰(zhàn)長沙》時，出場用袖子遮臉，眼神微瞇。演至精彩處，驀地睜大雙眼，一副殺氣凜然的樣子。當(dāng)時臺下觀眾為之喝彩，都說真像是關(guān)公顯靈了。所以說，閉眼可以說是一種蓄勢待發(fā)的神情，在戲臺上，也有“一身之戲聚于臉，一臉之戲聚于眼” 一說。
